1. What is The Stop?
The Stop Community Food Centre is a nationally respected nonprofit organization that has provided innovative food-based programs, services, and advocacy in Toronto for over 35 years.
Our offerings include a healthy food bank, nutritious drop-in meals, perinatal and family supports, community kitchens and gardens, and youth leadership programs—all of which provide dignified access to healthy food, strengthen social connections, build skills, and promote civic engagement.
Underlying all of The Stop’s efforts is the belief that food is a basic human right. Working alongside our community members, we’re challenging inequality and changing the narrative around poverty.
2. What is Night Market all about?
Inspired by night markets from around the world, The Stop’s Night Market transforms a public space into a tantalizing feast for the senses over two nights in June, featuring over 70 chefs and unique decor created by local designers. The Stop’s Night Market celebrates creativity, diversity, community, and the power of food.
All proceeds from The Stop’s Night Market benefit The Stop’s critical food access and community-building programs.
3. How do I get tickets?
Tickets go on sale May 10, 2018 at 12pm. Mark your calendar, they sell fast!
A sold-out event means that The Stop will reach its fundraising goals and be able to continue its vital work in the community.
4. How much are tickets?
Tickets are $100 each and available to purchase online.
As with most registration platforms, a processing fee will apply. A portion of this fee is donated back to The Stop.
5. How does buying a ticket help The Stop?
The Stop’s Night Market is a fundraiser for The Stop Community Food Centre. Our programs and innovative approach have never been more urgently needed, and there is growing demand for our community services and programs. Skyrocketing housing costs, precarious employment, unlivable social assistance rates, and lack of affordable childcare are among the policy shortcomings that continue to challenge our neighbours and their families in their aspirations for healthy, dignified lives.
We rely on the generosity of our donors to provide our critical food access and community-building programs. All proceeds raised through ticket sales for The Stop’s Night Market support our community services.
6. I really, really love The Stop—can you please make sure I get tickets?
Sorry! As much as we would love for you all to attend, we cannot guarantee tickets. Complimentary tickets are available through event sponsorship only.
7. What do I get when I buy a ticket?
Your ticket gives you access to The Stop’s Night Market for one night only.
Once you enter the event, you can eat and drink as much as you like from our 40+ food and beverage vendors from 7PM to 11PM! Relish the vibrant atmosphere, connect with friends (and make new ones!), and enjoy some music and live performances.
The Stop’s Night Market is an opportunity to enjoy good food and to build our community—something that we do at The Stop Community Food Centre every day.
8. Why don’t I get a tax receipt with my ticket purchase?
As The Stop’s Night Market is an all-you-can-eat-and-drink event, the value of the advantage that ticket buyers receive may be more than the cost of the ticket. Therefore, in compliance with Canada Revenue Agency regulations, ticket buyers will not receive a tax receipt for any portion of their ticket purchase.
9. My plans changed—can I switch my ticket to the other night?
You can only enter the event on the night for which your ticket is valid. There are no exceptions. All sales are final, no exchanges and no refunds can be issued.
10. If it’s all-you-can-eat, then I can bring my Tupperware containers and load up for the week, right?
No. Our chefs are generously donating their time and ingredients, and base the number of servings they offer on the number of expected guests each night. We encourage everyone to stay, sample, and enjoy everything on offer, and to remember that there are hundreds of other guests who are hoping to do the same. Please be considerate. Thank you in advance!
11. Will there be options for vegans and vegetarians?

13. Is the event 19+?
YES. Please bring a valid photo I.D. for the security check at the entrance. No one under the age of 19 will be admitted.
14. Can I bring my baby? What about my dog?
This event is not suitable for children or youth, and no one under the age of 19 will be admitted. Dogs or animals of any kind will not be permitted at this event, so please plan accordingly.
15. Is the event venue accessible?
Yes! There are no physical barriers at the venue and we will have an accessible toilet onsite. Please note that there is packed gravel underfoot. If you have concerns about accommodations that may be required, please contact us.
16. Since this is an outdoor event, can I smoke onsite?
NO. Smoking is NOT permitted on the site
17. What else can I do at Night Market besides eat?
Mix and mingle, chill out in the chill zone, enjoy good music and live performances, and learn more about the impact your ticket purchase will have on The Stop’s programs and community.

18. What happens if it rains?
The Stop’s Night Market is happening rain or shine, so dress appropriately for the weather! Just a reminder, there are no refunds.
19. Is there a dress code?
There is no dress code for this event, however we do encourage everyone to wear comfortable shoes since there is packed gravel underfoot.
20. I am a designer, how can I get involved?
Design has always been an important element at The Stop’s Night Market and we continue to explore creative ideas and suggestions from local artists and design teams.
We will not be soliciting design teams to create carts in 2018. However, if you would like to share your ideas and/or suggestions on how to best use your time and talents, we would love to hear from you!
